What's YOUR Personal Training Success Story?

You know, for all the marketing stuff I do within the
industry, I can sure be a bit of a dummy at telling my 'story'
sometimes.

For instance, whilst the bulk of the PT industry know me as a
'marketing guy' it seems that, of late at least, they know very
little about the other work that I do.

For instance, until about a year or so ago, most of the industry
knew very little about the success coaching that I'd been
conducting for my clients and other personal trainers to help the
achieve more, faster.

The coaching had been so successful, in fact, that I rapidly became
the highest paid coach in the UK. Yet, very few outside of my
clientele knew.

It took my bestselling book The MAGIC Hundred to bring my success
coaching to the fore and for me to generate a higher profile and
higher income as a success coach, to the point where I now conduct
over 70 interviews and seminars a year on goal achievement and
success.

Similarly with my business coaching for trainers.

Do you know, I was mentoring coaches for years before I ever 'sold'
mentoring programs?

It's true, for nearly 3 years I was mentoring and coaching
trainers who wanted to learn my systems, strategies nad so-called
'secrets'. They all sought me out and offered me money to work with
them.

I was helping them double, triple and even quadruple their income
and yet the world never even knew I had this skillset.

It took my website www.personaltrainersuccessacademy.com and my
$10,000 a year mentoring program to put me on the map as a business
coach and since then I've consistently earned more in 2 hours a week
than most personal trainers earn in a month.

Same with my Kinetic Chain Specialist Course.

Trainers used to ask me how I got the results I got so fast. I'd tell 'em
about my Kinetic Chain Assessment and, on an ad hoc, occasional basis
I'd offer workshops to trainers, physical therapist, osteopaths and even
neurologists and teach them, what I thought were, 'the obvious' assessments
I used.

This happened for 2 years and I had a lot of fun.

But I had a lot more fun when I started writing about the KCA for industry
magazines and selling out 20 person courses at $500 a pop.

So, what am I getting at here?

Well, it's obvious.

At least, I hope it is!

I'm telling you that we all have a skillset, a knowledge base, a set of 'obvious'
skills that we take for granted because, well, we've always gone about things
this way.

So we think nothing of the amazing way in which we work and the fantastic
results we get.

But once in a while we share our story and...

... BAM!

Everything changes, and faster than most of us would ever believe.

So tell your story!

Even if it's obvious (to you).

Even if you think that no-one will be interested. (You'd be surprised)

Even if you think that EVERYONE is doing things the way you are
(I guarantee they won't be).

The truth is, people want to know your story.

They NEED to know your story.

So tell it!

Tell 'em the the who, what, when, where, why and how of the things you do.

No sales hype, no pushy-pushy, no B.S. Just tell them your story.

...and watch your success skyrocket!

To your success

Dax Moy

P.S - This is hardly rocket science! Think about it; would you rather be sold,
lectured or told a story?

'nuff said!

5 Website Blunders That Kill Your Personal Training Business Dead

It’s frustrating isn’t it?

You’re a great trainer, your clients love you, you get fantastic results and you have (what you think is) a great website to showcase your services with great graphics, great pictures and neat, jazzy logo’s and such and yet still you’re finding that despite your greatest efforts, you’re simply not getting any appreciable business.

Worse still, the small number of people who actually find your website in the first place don’t stay long enough to find out what you’re about or bother to follow up with a call, an email or anything remotely resembling interest.

What’s going wrong?

Why isn’t this site, that cost you a fair bit of your hard earned cash and tons of your even more valuable time actually delivering results for you?

I bet this is a question you’ve asked yourself HUNDREDS of times right? And you’re not alone.

Virtually every personal trainer I have ever coached has had the same problem and I receive thousands of emails a year from others who echo it too.

Well, I’ve never even seen your site but I guarantee you that if the above describes you then one or more of these 5 factors are contributing to the lack of traffic and lack of interest from your hottest prospects:

1. Your site lacks WIIFM factor –

When prospects arrive at your site the first thing they’re looking for a reason to either stay on your site or press ‘back’ on their browser toolbar. Like you, their time is precious and they simply want to know “What’s in it for me to stay on this page?”. Quite obvious really isn’t it?

So why is it then that 99% of personal trainers have their landing page all about themselves?

You know what I’m talking about. There’s a picture of themselves, usually in a tank top (!), and a list of their certifications, work experience and some inane or even INSANE drivel about how they promise to help.

Talk about lacking WIIFM factor!

Successful sites, those that get lots of traffic and people that actually take action as a result of visiting them tell the prospect UP FRONT what’s in it for them to stay by demonstrating clearly an understanding of their problem.

They don’t say ‘Bob’s 1-to-1 will get you fitter than you’ve ever been before’ they say ‘Have you tried every fad diet, every celebrity workout and bought every fitness gizmo off of the shopping channel and yet you’re STILL struggling to lose weight?’

See the difference?

The successful site understands what they prospect is going through and feeling and shows that understanding by describing the problem and coming up with a unique solution to it.

Does your site do this?

2. You don't attract prospects that would buy your product or service in the first place –

In short, you’re marketing to everyone, the entire world in the hope that, if you put out enough bait you’re bound to attract someone eventually right?

Wrong!

Put out bait for everyone and you’ll get no-one.

Why?

Because people want different things.

One wants golf conditioning, one wants weight loss, one wants to increase his jump. Sure, you might have the knowledge, skills and abilities to achieve all this and more but if you tell everyone this what are you saying?

How about “jack of all trades master of none”?

If you want golfers then build a site dedicated to golfers. If you want weight loss clients then build one for them. Likewise athletes.

Without adding a single certification or doing another minute of study you’ve moved into expert status and are much more likely to appear attractive in the eyes of your prospects and made it much more likely that those with a particular goal or interest will seek you out.

You doing this?

3. Your website doesn’t look professional –

Most fitness website look like they were put together overnight by a 6 year old.

They use uncomplimentary mixes of fonts, colors and graphics, cheesy stock photography or poorly framed digital pics that they took themselves and have navigation and page layouts that make the whole site look and feel ‘clumsy’ to navigate.

If this describes your site then you’ve got to know, this is simply killing your credibility as a professional!

It’s the internet equivalent of turning up to a top-notch business meeting in your working out clothes and muddy sneakers. You just wouldn’t be taken seriously would you?

The web is no different.

If you want to be seen as a professional then your Netiquette needs to be on the ball. Clean, crisp page layouts, professional fonts (NOT Comic sans), relevant or deliberately abstract graphics (but not a haphazard mix) and lots of ‘white space’ between sentences and paragraphs.

Also, keep your sentences shorter than normal as well as light and conversational in tone rather than using the grammar and punctuation you were taught in class.

Does your site look like this?

4. You don’t tell people your story –

Could you imagine walking into a bar and asking the first person you laid eyes on to marry you? Wouldn’t be very likely to a yes response would you?

So why do you try that approach with your website?

You know what I mean.

You simply post your services in a list that says ‘this is what I do and this is what I charge’. In effect, you’re proposing before they know anything about what you’re offering… and you’re wondering why people aren’t buying?!

A buying relationship isn’t really that different to any other relationship really. Simply spend some time building trust before you ask for their hand in marriage. Online (same as offline) you build that trust by telling your story.

Your story is not just WHAT you do but also WHY you do it, WHEN you found this out and HOW you have used it to generate better results for your clients.

When you tell their story to your prospects they trust you, they start to feel that they know you, they like you and they feel much more inclined to ‘give you their hand’.

Do you tell your story?

5. You don’t give people a reason to come back

Chances are, a prospect won’t contact you from their first visit to your site.

They’re shopping. They’re looking around and they’re comparing you to all of the other trainers in your area to see who looks most up to the job. You most probably do the same right?

Now, if your site is like most trainers sites, it’s what I call a ‘static ad’. A few pictures, an ‘about me page’ and a list of services and fees. It’s a kind of online flyer with all the important facts about your business laid out for the world to see.

So, answer me this;

If I left your site to go off and compare yours service to that of the other trainers in your area, why would I need to come back? I mean, I already have your number and the prices right? Why do I need to come back?

They answer is; I don’t!

Worse still, because I don’t come back, I forget about you altogether!

You’ve GOT to have a ‘come back strategy’ for your site or you’re simply throwing your money away.

But what makes a person come back?

Information!

Information is the currency of the web and those who have the most and the best get the prize everytime.

You need new articles on a regular basis that demonstrate your knowledge, skills and abilities as a trainer and that give your prospect real, tangible, useful advice that they can use.

You need an permission item. Something of value that you’re willing to give for free in exchange for the permission to contact the prospect again.

Free reports, ebooks, audios, interviews and the like can be extremely valuable to helping prospects make their decision about who to work with and make it much easier for you to establish expert status in their eyes.

And the best thing is, in exchange for information you WANT them to read, you get their email address and permission to contact them again with other useful stuff. In other words, you’re not a spamming pest, you become a welcome guest!

Do you give your prospects a reason to come back?

It ‘Ain’t Rocket Science!

Look, none of this is exactly rocket science is it? I mean, all you have to do is look around the internet at the sites that YOU like, that YOU visit and that YOU re-visit and you’ll see that every single one of these points have been covered to great effect.

They tell you clearly what’s in it for them to keep reading.

They target specific prospects and talk to them about the problems that they’re facing.

They have a crisp, clean, professional look that is befitting of an expert in their field.

They tell the full story about what, when, why and how they provide their service and build a relationship of trust.

They create a reason to comeback, a reason to maintain the relationship and in doing so vastly increase their chances of eventually getting the client.

That’s it!

Forget meta tags, search engine optimization and all that other technical stuff for now, it’s not that important… yet. What is, is making sure that when a client finds you that they’ll hang around long enough to hear what you have to say and, like it.

Sounds simple and it is.

However, simple doesn’t always imply easy does it?

You’ve got to put some thought into this.

You’ve got to start treating your website as what it is… The front of your store!

Start today. Don’t delay. Don’t procrastinate.

Every day you wait is another client lost. Maybe more.

In less than a week from now you could and should have a website that actually enhances your business and generates an endless stream of clients.

But you have to start!

So start! : )

Why Positive Thinking May Be Keeping You From Success

I've given over 80 talks about mindset and goal achievement in the last 12 months to groups ranging from 20 to 2000 coming from all walks of life and practically every nation on the planet.

Whenever I begin one of my talks I always lay out the three 'big myths' about achieving your goals and why falling for them can cost you not only your goals but your passion and your happiness too.

In a later post I'll cover the other 2 myths but today I wanted to cover the myth of positive thinking as I believe that this is probably the most pervasive and negatively impactful myth around achievement and success that most people fall for.

Now, don't get me wrong; I'm a big positive thinker myself focusing upon the possible rather than the impossible, on the can rather than the can't and on the power, possibility and promise of a situation rather than the drain, strain and lack of gain that most people seem to focus on.

But that doesn't mean that I believe positive thinking creates positive results in and of itself.

It doesn't.

You see, depite what most people think, positive thinking has very little power to create the end-result you're most looking for whether that's earning more money, getting a better job, travelling the world or anything else that you may hold as being important to you.

Now, if you've read around mindset and goal achievement very much then you'll probably disagree with me on this. I don't blame you, this is how you've been trained to think.

So let's be scientific about this shall we?

Go and sit in the middle of a very busy highway. The busiest you can find.

Put a massive smile on your face and think happy, positive thoughts as the traffic whizzes by you at 70 miles an hour. You feel pretty good, right?

But just how long do you think your positive thinking will keep you from harms way?

Hmmm...

Another test.

Walk out in to your garden and smile and say over and over "There's no weeds, there's no weeds, there's no weeds"

Follow this little ritual on a daily basis for six months or even a year, maintaining a positive attitude to your garden.

Check out your garden at the end of six months and record the result.

Weeds right?

So look, positive thinking isn't the be all and end all of getting what you want.

Yes, it's an important part (after all, negativity certainly doesn't help ANYTHING) but positivity by itself only creates what I call 'Happy Fool Syndrome' where you maintain a smile despite whatever else is going on in your life. Sure, it's a better approach than going through life with a frown but it definitely won't guarantee your success in anything.

You see, positivity is only valuable to the degree that it gets you to take positive action.

That's critcially important so I'll say it again just to let it sink in.

Positivity is only valuable to the degree that it gets you to take positive action.

If you maintain a smile but don't DO the things that are PROVEN to create success then success simply won't come. It can't!

Only action changes anything, positive thinking doesn't.

So here's a little experiment I want you t try out for the next 30 days ok?

Stop judging your probability for success based upon how positive you're thinking and start judging it only on the actions you took toward making the goal happen; no matter how small.

Eating right, drinking right, cutting back on toxic load, getting enough sleep, exercising and controling your stress are all positive actions that will contribute to positive results in your health, energy and mindset.

Saving 10% of your income, paying yourself first, investing in learning new skills and using those you already have to their maximum are all positive actions that will see your income, your savings and your net worth increase.

Small actions, but they soon add up.

Thinking positively, on the other hand changes nothing, other than how you FEEL about things. (This IS important, of course, but not as much as most people think)

By all means, maintain a sunny, cheery disposition and a 'can do' attitude to life. I'm not knocking it, but make EVERY day a day where you took action on that positivity and things will change more than you'd ever believe.

Truth, joy and love

P.S - My personal mentors Bob Proctor and Joe Vitale of 'The Secret' both agree with me on this. They believe 100% in maintaining a positive mindset but also recognise that only action has the power to bring about change.

What's Worst Possible Thing That Could Happen To You and Your Personal Training Business?

It's being successful.

Correction;

It's being successful and not being ready for it.

I know, it's happened to me.

And it cost me tons and tons of time, effort and money as a result.

You see, it's relatively easy to generate short-term success.

You read a few books, watch a few videos, attend a few seminars and, Bob's-your-uncle, you've got a killer sales letter, your Google Adwords campaign is kicking butt, your affiliates are working overtime and you've pulled traffic to your site, made a bunch of sales and then sit back and celebrate how clever you are.

I know; I've been there.

And so have many of my great friends in the fitness industry.

But then it all starts to go wrong.

Your site goes down because you didn't have enough bandwidth to cope with the traffic you are your affiliates managed (successfully) to drive there.

(This happened to me when one of my sites crashed just 30 minutes into my 'big day'. I had hundreds upon hundreds of mails telling me that they couldn't see the page and, considering that this was for online PT demonstrated very effectively that my online PT was going to be unreliable)

Net result: Success kills the promo. (In my own case, my 'big day' pulled in less than a 25% of what I'd hoped for.

Next, your sales page is successful. It does the job. People like and want what you have to offer. All good so far.

But...

The purchase process is a pain. Paypal won't interface with your shopping cart and, as a result, people who are ready, willing and able to buy from you... can't.

So they go elsewhere.

(My first online products relied on a paypal/1shopping cart interface that only worked around 50% of the time meaning that half of my prospective customers had problems with the purchase, got frustrated and left.)

Result: Successful sales process killed because your site wasn't ready for the purchase process.

It gets worse.

They buy the product, you're over the moon!

But...

Your audios are saved in the wrong format or the file size is too large meaning that they take an eternity to download. Because of this, 'buyers remorse' pays an early visit and an unusually large number or refund requests are made.

(One of my first online endeavors hit this EXACT problem. I sold £3000 of the product, didn't think at all about the ease of delivery and of using it and had to give back nearly £1200 in refunds)

Net result: Successful marketing generates sales but failure to prepare for the sale kills the profit. Refunds requests start coming back at you faster than you'd believe possible.

And just because you make it through the traffic generation, sales letter, purchase and download phases ok doesn't mean that you're home free!

You can still kill your business by being too successful by doing stupid things... like I did.

(One of my products encouraged my readers to email me, daily, with their progress toward their goals.

Not bad when you have 10 customers.

Bad when you have 4000!

4000 customers who're now getting annoyed because you aren't keeping your end of the deal and paying them the personal attention you promised)

Net Result: Successful lead generation, sales, purchasing, downloading strategies killed by failure to deliver upon 'small stuff' like answering emails, blogging, visiting forums etc.

Like I said, I've been there, done it all and bought the T-shirt as far as being 'successful' is concerned and my success almost killed my business... and me with it! : )

That's why I now teach a very different process to all my students on my mentor program.

I teach a sequentialised system that ensures that you're prepared for success rather than having to stumble around in the dark making mistakes like I did.

This means that, every step of the way you can be sure that the successes you're building up are real and long-term rather than the short-term 'fake' successes that most of us achieve from time to time.

You could pay $10,000 to learn the process in-depth in my mentor program but, as most of the industry don't have that kind of money (or won't part with it!) I've decided to share the sequence for free.

You can hear all about it over at http://personaltrainersuccess.ning.com/ where I've also uploaded the now famous interviews I did with Alwyn Cosgrove and Pat Rigsby, two of the most prepared-for-success guys in the business. (Yes, it's free...honest!)

Pop on over, listen to the audios and the videos I've prepared for you and then do something with what you learn.

If you do, I promise you, your success will be faster and longer lived than most Personal Trainers could even dream of!

Tou your lasting success!

P.S - There comes a time when you have to move past reading blog posts to actually taking action on them. Make today one of those days!

Wanted: A Different You!

Most personal trainers and most people in general don't get the 'different you' concept.

They think I'm nuts when I explain it to them but nonetheless it exists.

In fact, it exists to such a degree that if you ignore it or fail to take action on it, you'll be doomed to a life exactly like you've got right now. Right this minute.

What's the Different You Rule?

It simply states that what you're getting out of life right now is the result of the thoughts you've thought. the words you've spoken and the actions you've taken up to this point.

In other words, the YOU that you've become.

It also states that, if you're not happy with the results you're currently experiencing, that the only way to change things is to become a different you.

It's cause and effect.

And it crosses EVERY single area of your life from health, to wealth to happiness and beyond.

But today let's look at wealth.

How much are you currently earning from your fitness business?

Whatever the number, good or bad, you're not earning that because of the environment, the economy or any other external reason that many of us like to blame.

You're earning it because of who YOU are, right now, this minute!

Stands to reason then, that if that number is lower than what you want from life, that YOU need to become someone else, someone more than who you are right now.

In fact, I believe that every single rung of the income ladder requires that you become a different you.

You need to be a different you to go from $20,000 to $40,000.

You need to be a different you to go from $40,000 to $80,000.

And you DEFINITELY need to be a VERY different you to go from $100,000 to $1,000,000!

It's a shame more personal trainers don't 'get' this.

They think that the techniques and strategies they used to to get from $20,000 to $40,000 will work to get them all the way to $100,000.

They won't.

They can't!

At $20,000 the YOU that you are is thinking very differently. The YOU that you are is thinking of how to accomplish $40,000. The YOU that you are is taking the actions and the risks equal to the task of achieving $40,000.

But that YOU isn't ready for $100,000...

...Yet!

Oh, that YOU thinks you are but you're not.

In fact, if you insist on remaining the $40,000 YOU whilst trying to get to $100,000 you'll fail.

You'll have a good month, you'll have a bad month.

You'll sell a few ebooks, then it'll stop selling.

You'll fill a bootcamp then the next one will be a dud.

No doubt about it, trying to earn $100,000 whislt being a $40,000 you is one step forward, two steps back.

And it's frustrating as hell!

I know.

I resisted growing into the me I had to be in order to break the six-figure barrier and I experienced the success/failure two-step over and over again.

I wasted time, I wasted money, I wasted energy and I wasted passion on watching my ideas do 'so-so' when, on paper at least, they should have been stunning successes.

Then I hit on the Different You Rule and everything changed... almost overnight!

I realised that the different me I had to be had to risk failure more often (I'd been playing it safe).

I realised that the different me had to think bigger (I'd been thinking small - even though it didn't feel like it at the time)

I realised that the different me had to invest in my future (Up til then I'd considered many things to be expenses rather than investments).

And most of all, I realised that the different me needed a mentor to coach and guide me (Up to then I'd done the whole loner 'thing' and thought that success and failure were down to me alone).

I don't know what YOU you need to be, only you can answer that, but whatever it is, there's no doubt that you need to be more than you are now.

Now, it's up to you what you're going to do about becoming that YOU but whatever it is, I suggest you stop 'thinking about it' and get to it. After all, every day you're not working toward being the YOU who has the house, the car, the business, the lifestyle, the travel the adventure and the relationships you truly want, is another day where you're actively choosing to keep things exactly as they are.

If you're happy with thing as they are then fine, do nothing.

If not... then hustle!

To the successful YOU I know you can be!

Dax Moy
www.personaltrainersuccessacademy.com

P.S - The Excellence Module Of My Diploma Program is all about becoming the best YOU that you can be. Every single trainer who's been through the program so far has experienced greater success, including greater income as a result of the coaching they recieved.

John Limpus knew he need to be a different person to grow his buiness. He took action and look at the result!

"I have recently reviewed my progress over the past six months and have been pleasantly surprised by the results.

I have established a £1000 ($2000) per week personal training business from scratch in less than three months, increased the amount of enjoyment I get from my clients by 1000% and am planning a six week break next year to celebrate my business doing the same profit without me being there!

When I look back at the difference between this period of my business and previous years it is not because I have worked harder.

Nor because I know any more about health and exercise. Quite simply the investment I have made in Dax’s Mentoring course has given me the confidence, contacts and tools to start getting the money and recognition I deserve from the hours of work I am putting in.

Not only that but I also have the knowledge and confidence to build a business that can survive on it’s own rather than rely so heavily on me.

I spent years investing money in books or DVD’s that only gave me part of the answers I was looking for. I can only say to other trainers, take the plunge, if you seriously want your business to succeed you need to invest serious time and money in a training programme that gets results.

Dax’s course does that and truly will repay the money you invest in it ten fold.

When I look back at the growth I have achieved in the past few months and the changes I have made the biggest change was investing the money and time in Dax’s mentoring."
