Personal Trainer Success | Press Release Strategy

Have you submitted any press releases this week?

What about this month?

This year?NO??!!

If you're not submitting press releases as part of your strategy to help build your business, then you're missing out on possibly one of the most powerful client attraction strategies out there.

I should know... over the last few years I've been featured in hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles, made 20 TV appearances including primetime CNN news and given over 200 radio interviews and all of it, off the back of press releases.

Did all this coverage help my business?

You bet!

In fact, I'm now at the point where I charge £130 ($260) an hour for my time and over £2500 ($5000) a day for my corporate work, due in no small part to the fact that I managed to achieve something that few trainers ever accomplish.

Newsworthy status.

See, when you become news, you are immediately elevated into a different orbit.

People don't see you as someone who is 'marketing (though, in effect, that's exactly what you're doing) and instead they see you as an expert, a trusted resource who they want to learn more from.

In fact, getting into the news fulfils the very first part of the 'holy trinity' of marketing (KNOW-LIKE-TRUST and gets you known by a larger audience far faster than your ads ever could. But how do you get yourself into the news?

That's the trick right?

Well, to be honest, it's not too difficult at all.

You simply need to think about what journalists want.

A story.A COMPLETE story.

Look, to be honest, most journo's are pretty lazy. No, that's not fair, they're not lazy, but they're up against pretty tough deadlines on numerous articles at once and they want stories that are going to be easy for them to write and submit in the shortest time possible.

This makes sense to them on a financial level too as nost Journo's are self-employed these days and only get paid for the stories that actually get run.

Knowing this, you can make their life easy.Submit articles that are in 1 of the following three categories.

1. They're New - The best news is 'new' news. If you've got a new take on an old story, a new system of training, a possibly contentious new viewpoint on something that's happening in your area then you can and SHOULD submit a story.

2. They're Timely - If the national press is blasting school dinners then jumping on the wagon with your 2 cents about the state of school dinners will undoubtedly get you some press too, especially if you're adding something to the main story you're piggybacking.

3. They're pre-emptive - It stuns me how few people use this strategy and yet it's so simple... and effective.Simply write about what is GOING TO BE in the news in the days and weeks ahead.

How do you know?

Well, do you KNOW when certain sporting events are taking place?

Write a series of releases to come out around the time of the superbowl or Champions league and as long as they're relevent to those sports (football and soccer) then you're sure to get some coverage.

This is one strategy you can use, but by far the most powerful for a fitness professional is the use of National days.

For example, in the UK it's National Obesity week this week.I and my team have been crafting releases that mention our systems and free help we're giving to the nation through our program and using this to generate both traffic and interest in the business.

Within 5 minutes of submitting one this morning I made $200 online from someone who learned about my site from the reease AND had 2 journalists contact me for more information.

You can use this idea today too.

Simply go online and find out what the national, state, county and city days are this year and compile them into a calendar for easy viewing.

Then simply pick the ones that most interest you most and write a press release (or series of releases) and submit them.

How easy is that?

Honestly, if you don't give this a try, you're simply not serious about getting ahead in this profession and you're seriously hampering any success you'll ever attain.

Give it a go today and send me an email to tell me how you're getting on.
