Here's How You Can Have Over 80 People Clamoring For Your Bootcamps, Personal Training or Fitness Products in 3 Hours Or Less

I'm always talking about taking serious action to fill your bootcamps, studios and lists by any means necessary when you're first getting a new project off the ground, right?

I'm always saying that your first priority should never be on what you GET but on what you GIVE and that, if you give enough, you'll attract everything you need in order to be successful too, don't I?

Well, to illustrate this, tonight I sent out an email, just one, announcing a new program that I'm putting together.

I said I needed guinea-pigs to go through the program for FREE and test it out for me.

I told them I was only accepting 18 people. 12 online and 6 at my London studio.

In return, all they had to do was chronicle their journey, allow me use of their before and after pics and give me a testimonial.

Oh, and be 100% serious about losing 30lb in 30 days : )

Result so far? Over 80 applicant. See for yourself at http://www.dailydoseofdax.blogspot.com and more coming in as we 'speak'.

Not bad, right?

Sure, it'll cost me time and effort but look at what I'm getting in return.

==> A full compliment of 'living' testimonials who will chronicle the results in real time - This will do away with 'before and after' scepticism, don't you think?

==> A whole bunch of people who really want to do the program but won't be selected - Who do you think will be clamoring to get a copy when it goes on sale?

==> 'Buzz' about what I'm doing - Invaluable

==> A reason to contact my lists every single day for 30 days as they watch my guinea pigs go through the program - Do you think they'll be hot for the product after 30 days?

==> 18 live blogs pointing back to my sales page - inbound links are nice, right?

Don't you think this is pretty good?

How could YOU use this?

What could you offer RIGHT NOW that would generate your 'buzz product' or service and get people talking about you?

Forget the up front money and DO SOMETHING right now to grow your business.

It comes down to this; don't expect people to believe that you can do what you say you can do. PROVE it to them... the sooner the better!

Three C-Words That Bring Fitness Business Success

I've not been around much recently as I've had some 'stuff' going on that has been taking up a lot of my time, energy and thought so I've only been dropping in to my blogs and communities occasionally.

Anyway, during my semi-absence, I've had a lot of time to reflect on many things that are important to me and to take stock of my goals, my vision, my purpose and have come to the conclusion that my ability to be, do and have the things I most want in my life is almost limitless.

More than that, I've realised (yet again!) that the same is true for you : )

See, I reckon it comes down to just three questions that we each need to ask ourselves.

Answer them in the positive and success in ANYTHING is 100% guaranteed. I know this is true because everything I've ever applied these 3 questions to has come through and come true for me.

On the flip-side, everything that I've failed to bring about or that I've felt took too long can be put down to the fact that I couldn't (or wouldn't) answer yes to any one of them.

So, what ARE these questions?

Do I have the courage to start?

Simply put, there are many, many things that each and every one of us want from life. Things we want to be, things we want to do, things we want to have. Most of us are fairly clear about these things. We know we want them, right?

Yet somehow, despite all of our talk about what it would be like to have them, how much we're committed to having them and how much having them would change our lives for the better, we take action on very few of them.

Now, it may well be that some of the things we say we REALLY want... we don't. They're just vague wishes and pipe dreams that are unimportant and, because of this, we do nothing about getting them.

Fair enough, we all have these things on our wish lists.

But what about the things we say we REALLY want, feel really strongly about and think about, talk about and dream of all the time? Why is it that many of these things never come to reality for us?

Why is it that we don't even START the process of getting may, if not most of them?

I believe it's because we lack the courage of the pursuit.

By courage, I mean the ability to overcome the fear that has us thinking 'what if I do all this and STILL fail?'

For many of us, it's far, far easier to accept 'failure in advance' where we don't get what we want but we know we won't get it so we don't even try (read that again if it's not clear) than it is to deal with attempting something that we pour our heart into and fail in the attempt.

Many people can't deal with the fear so they lack the courage to even begin.

Those that have the courage to start are a rare breed indeed. They're walkers and not talkers. They take risks, they fall flat on their faces but they learn from each fall and get that little bit further.

Fall enough times and you're a hell of a lot further ahead than those who never even started, right?

QUESTION: What would you try TODAY if you were not afraid?
QUESTION: Where would you START?

Do I have the commitment to finish?

Here's another question we rarely ask ourselves... yet should!

See, as you know, it's only the finishing of something that gets the result.

If I start a website but don't finish it then I have no online business. If I start a diet but don't finish it then I'm still fat, if I start a relationship but don't stick around to make it work then...

Knowing IN ADVANCE that you're committed to the finishing what you start puts you into a completely different orbit than the majority of people.

Most people 'try' too much.

They 'try' to write a book.

They 'try' to start a business.

They 'try' to lose weight.

Trying doesn't cut it.

Ask Yoda, he'll tell you "There is no try, only do"

If you're going to start something then finish it.

Remember, you only get paid for done.

QUESTION: What would happen to your goals if you stopped 'trying' to make them work and committed fully 100% to making them happen?

QUESTION: What would happen if you actually FINISHED working on your most important, most passionate, most inspired goal?

Do I have the clarity of thought to see exactly what I have to get done and the and the will to do it... no matter what?

People lack clarity.

Then, even if they know what they want and say that they're committed to having it, they rarely have a clear picture of what needs to be done to get it.

Worse.

They think they do.

People hold onto paradigms, systems and practices that aren't working for them (and never have, for many) and 'hope' that one day they'll start working better.

They have poor marketing, bad logos, crappy uniforms, poor communications, outdated websites and much, much more yet, instead of thinking clearly and changing what's not working, they remain enshrouded in mental fog and defend their current, underperforming practices.

This makes no sense!

Just as moving forward in your car requires you to take the brakes off, so too does moving forward in life. In fact, if you don't then your life won't move forward at all.

Look, it's not bad to have struggles and trials in your business and your life, that's normal, but if you're still experiencing the exact same struggles that you had 12 months ago, then something is wrong with your strategy and your thinking.

No ifs, no buts.

The only way to change things is... wait for it... to change things.

I know this sounds inane but it's true nonetheless.

You need to change your strategy if you want to change your results and this requires clarity of thought and the will to implement your new thinking... even if those changes are tough at first.

That, or of course, you could keep the groundhog day approach.

QUESTION: What's NOT working?
QUESTION: What's the weakest link in your business and your life?
QUESTION: How do you know?

If you answer these three questions (and each of the sub questions) I guarantee you'll start to experience more improvement in your business and your life faster than ever before.

It doesn't take much to make 'stuff' happen, just apply these 3 C's and you'll see things change immediately.

I know, I live this myself and have seen its power numerous times.

Dax Moy

P.S - If you're up for 'exposing' your 3 C's here, I'd love to see what you come up with : )

A Preponderance Of Proof (AKA How To Make TONS More Cash From Your Fitness Business)

For those of you who are not sure whether or not to join the upcoming mentoring program I thought I'd give you a little snapshot of what others have accomplished and what that $10,000 buys you.

If you're interested then read on, if not, you don't need to : )

"hey brother, my release of my public domain project has been super, so thank you soooooo very much Dax for urging me to promote better

I had several thousand plus $$ days, which was a rarity before this, but my first 2 launch days grossed near $ 6 k, netted around $ 4 k.

I'm loving it and really feel like I'm grasping who I am and what I am w/my products and who I am about.

Thank you for that one little e mail you sent, which has really changed everything in my business!"

"I’ve been on Dax’s mailing list for a while and have always enjoyed reading what he has to say on numerous subjects. I starting looking in to what he did a bit more and went along to a few of his workshops and bought a few e-books and was really impressed with everything he told me.

Prior to the mentor programme I had approached a number of trainers with their own studio’s to try to pick their brains but no one seemed too keen to share anything with me. When I first heard about the mentor programme I’d just opened my own studio with little idea of how I was going to make it work. I needed direction and Dax was the obvious person for me to learn from.

The cost of the course was a big concern to me as I was barely surviving at time and so it hit me pretty hard to invest in it but at the same time made me determined to get as much as possible out of it. The time commitment was also an issue. When I started I was doing around 40 hours a week of personal training and trying to run my studio!

I knew it would be worth the time and money and that it would change the way I work but I didn’t realize how much…

At the start of the programme I was training clients all day every day. I worked 7 days a week and I was still struggling to pay the bills!

My current situation is very different.

I now do 15 hours of personal training a week max. I have 4 other trainers that work for me as well as 4 class teachers and 2 therapists and I have an extension to my studio due to be completed next month and I have the time to work on new ideas to constantly take my business forward. My business turnover is now 6 times as much as when I began the programme and my business has the direction I was badly in need of a year ago.

I cannot recommend this programme highly enough. My business has changed a massive amount as a result of implementing Dax’s advice. I now believe I can take my business wherever I wish to go with it and my earning potential is more than I believed possible 12 months ago.

Believe me, your return on the investment in this course will be at least 10 times if you take action on what you will be taught. Don’t tell yourself you can’t afford it. I couldn’t afford it but I scraped the money together and haven’t looked back. – You can’t afford to not do it!"

"I have recently reviewed my progress over the past six months and have been pleasantly surprised by the results.

I have established a £1000 per week personal training business from scratch in less than three months, increased the amount of enjoyment I get from my clients by 1000% and am planning a six week break next year to celebrate my business doing the same profit without me being there!

When I look back at the difference between this period of my business and previous years it is not because I have worked harder. Nor because I know any more about health and exercise. Quite simply the investment I have made in Dax’s Mentoring course has given me the confidence, contacts and tools to start getting the money and recognition I deserve from the hours of work I am putting in. Not only that but I also have the knowledge and confidence to build a business that can survive on it’s own rather than rely so heavily on me.

I spent years investing money in books or DVD’s that only gave me part of the answers I was looking for. I can only say to other trainers, take the plunge, if you seriously want your business to succeed you need to invest serious time and money in a training programme that gets results. Dax’s course does that and truly will repay the money you invest in it ten fold.

When I look back at the growth I have achieved in the past few months and the changes I have made the biggest change was investing the money and time in Dax’s mentoring."

"DAX, you have been an inspiration to me and my personal training business!

Just when I thought that being a one man band personal trainer was becoming tough and just grabbing onto any old client just to make ends meet I have totally transformed everything.

Since beginning the Financial Fitness Program Daxs' influence has been phenomenal.

Right from the very start the weekly calls have given my business a total shake up. Dax has helped me become my own ambassador for my own company and its not over yet.

From being a £45 trainer that just relied on any old client coming through the mill and sort of trying hard to find new ones, I have become so busy that I have increased my rates to £55 an hour. I have even developed a unique niche that brings in more clients than ever.....I have no time to train new ones!

I am now getting paid for every assessments where as before I used to give give give and get nothing in return. So I now get paid £100 for every assessment and don't get any strange looks.

I have totally transformed my consultation, assessments, client review, website, programs, brand stretegy and more!!! . Not to mention my marketing!

Daxs' knowledge on marketing ideas has helped me sky rocket my business.

I now run 2 bootcamps and am now running my own workshops and even gonna develop a separate company to my personal training business.

I wake up every day and am still taking action. Daxs weekly calls have made me become more organised with my time, business and my life!

Within 3 months I have been on holidays twice! I have never done this before. Barbados and Greece. Usually I only go away 1 x a year and still that means any late deal. Bring on Australia!

Daxs course is worth every penny.

I have even cleared my credit card bill that seemed like an uphill struggle before starting the course.

I have even been contacted by other trainers and am now helping them with new training ideas and concepts to help them succeed aswell.

Despite having to rethink and reinvent the wheel for my business the 6 months mentoring with Dax has been exciting, hard work and definately rewarding.

I feel that I am a different person and trainer than I was 6 months ago and am looking forward to developing my own website and my own kettlebell and working with my new trainers over the next 6 months!"

"Since first coming on the course 18 months ago, the change in my business has been immense. In the first 12 months, i went from a part time disorganised business which earnt me very little in terms of a sustaining income to a full time business with a intern trainer taking on clients, multiplying my income by 4!

This year, i have gone on to having a waiting list for both my own and my other coaches appointment book, but still only taking clients for four 7 hour days a week. I have increased my monthly income by 30% in the last 4 months with the creation of an incredibly popular group training program. From September I will be running a new Intern training program to bring on at least 2 new coaches to join my team, finishing a couple of new information products, as well as inducting a few trainers to run the group training workouts leaving me more time to work on my business.

To be honest most of this would not be worth it if it wasn't for the type of clients I choose to work with. I consistently attract better performing, better paying and happier clients, and all this despite more than doubling my fees!

I see myself now at phase 2 of my development, now with many systems in place, and more coaches joining me, I see this next 12 months as the opportunity to build a true business that works for me rather than the other way around!

Yes there has been some difficult times, where I did not know which way was up, but the books I have read and the advice I have taken on board from the mentor program has allowed me to come through these times stronger and better prepared for the future.

It is impossible to say which part of the Mentor program has given me the most benefit, it is not JUST the marketing, or the system building, or the mindset, it really is the complete mentoring program. "

There's a lot more (and if you're a past or present mentoring student and wish to add or amend then feel free) and none of these are tampered with in any way.

I just wanted to show you what my students have achieved and what they continue to achieve with the guidance of the program.

I love teaching it, I love seeing my students go on to amazing success and I love the idea of helping more of you to do the same.

If you want to know more about the program get on over to www.personaltrainersuccessacademy.com/mentor.asp and check out the program.

I won't lie to you, it's a lot of work.

You've got to want the success REAL bad and be willing to follow the guidance you're given, but, as these guys show, the program works and works VERY well to help people get more of what they want.

More money, more time off from work, passive revenues, multiple sources of income, money hitting your account even when you're on vacation? It's all covered in the program.

But yes, it's a good bit of money.

I make no apologies for that. It's more than worth it.

Besides, the amount is scary enough that you're FORCED to take action on what you learn. No $29.99 ebook will ever get you to do that, right? You've tried it already : )

Listen, check out the page at www.personaltrainersuccessacademy.com/mentor.asp and see what it's all about. If you want to know more then hey, ask... I'm right here : )

New Fitness Professional Mentoring Program About To Start!

Well, the start of this year has been absolutely crazy for me with trips to Egypt, Bootcamp in Thailand, a new mentor program, the re-write of The MAGIC Hundred, delivery of two KCA courses, the relaunch of FIT system Training and also the soon-to-be-launched International Association Of Master Personal Trainers.

On top of that I've created several new programs that I'll soon be launching for both the public and the industry and have been advising several high profile fitness celebrities on their product launches.

So yep, I've been pretty busy : )

So busy in fact, that my 2nd mentoring program of the year is long overdue!

I meant to start it in March and here we are, already approaching June so yes, I'm waaaay behind : )

Anyway, no more.

The program will be starting in just a few weeks and so I'm inviting anyone who's SERIOUS about working with me for a year to apply for one of the remaining 9 places (3 are filled already) I have available.

When I say 'serious' I mean VERY serious with a capital 'S'.

Those selected for one of the 12 places I'm offering must be in a position where they're HUNGRY for success in their business, their career and their lives in general and are willing to take an exceptional approach to making things happen at an accelerated pace both on and offline.

The program is high intensity, requires a lot of effort from all participants but generates incredible levels of success for all who go complete it.

But I won't lie to you. You'll find much of it difficult as it'll require a complete change of mindset and taking action on many things that may at first make you uncomfortable (nothing illegal, underhand or immoral : )

And it's not cheap either, in fact, at $10,000 it's the most expensive coaching program of its type in the world (Though you don't have to pay it all at once, I have a monthly plan).

That said, I've NEVER had a person go through the program and not benefit above and beyond the money they spent with me.

My students, including Zach Even-Esh, Josh Henkin, Tim Goodwin and many others have already gone on to earn over 6 figures from my coaching with many of the others writing successful online products, completely turning around their offline businesses, opening studios and much, much more.

Anyway, this is starting to feel a little salesy and I want to keep away from that, so let me just tell you that if you want to know more about the program and find out how you can apply (yes, this is application only) then visit www.personaltrainersuccessacademy.com/mentor.asp and find out if it's for you.

The cost may put you off, the 10 hours a week you'll need to spend ON your business and not IN it may put you off or maybe it's just the thought of me poking my nose into your business twice a week for a year, but if you can see past those things and really want to turn your business around then seriously think about applying.

You won't be sorry : )

Dax

P.S - If you're just looking for an online coach then I'm probably not your man. I love coaching, I love coaches and I love working with people who still want to work face to face with their clients.

I'll help you to become seriously successful BOTH online AND off with your own products, systems, courses, seminars, articles, books, videos etc but I'm not really looking for people who just want a crash course in internet marketing, google adwords or SEO.

You'll get ALL of that with me, but only when the time is right.

So if you want that NOW then go buy a book... much cheaper : )

Will You Marry Me? (The Key To Personal Training Success)

Over the last couple of years I've dedicated a lot of time to doing appraisals of the marketing materials that much of the Personal Training industry is currently using in an effort to gain a better understanding of why so many trainers are still seriously struggling to grow their businesses.

I've looked at thousands upon thousands of web pages, blogs, brochures and all the other paraphernalia associated with 'getting clients' and to be honest, I've been shocked at what I found.

You see, with the almost unlimited resources available to personal trainers today, I expected to find marketing materials that would capture my imagine, tantalise me, persuade me and get me to think 'Wow, that sounds great, where do I sign up?'

But that wasn't the case at all.

In fact, those sites were so few and far between that I can count them on one hand.

No, there was one theme that kept on coming through again, and again and again and it can be summed up in four words. Will - You - Marry - Me? (Yes, I know that sounds a little strange but bear with me...)

You see, most of the sites I looked at were the marketing equivalent of a stranger walking up to you in a bar and asking "Will you marry me?"

No pre-amble, no (as we say in the UK 'chat up lines') or anything else.

Now I don't know what it's like where you come from but in pretty much ANYWHERE on the planet this approach is likely to get, you at the very least, some strange looks and an answer in the negative and, in many places a slap in the mouth and a sentence ending in 'off'!

If, on the other hand, you strike up a friendly conversation, build some rapport, go on a few low-key, no-commitment dates, build trust and develop a relationship and THEN ask the same question then your chances are MUCH higher that you'll get the 'Yes' that you're hoping for right? (Sure, you might still get a No but probably not the slap)

Well, marketing is no different!

Especially the marketing of your PT services where the development of a long-term relationship of trust is both desired and required...

And yet, as I said, MOST Personal Training websites just dive straight in there with the proposal.

No wonder most of 'em aren't producing results and attracting clients!

Where are the dates?

Where's the trust?

Where's relationship development?

(Now you really think I've gone mad, after all, this is just a website we're talking about here!)

The thing is, if you really want your marketing to work, to truly attract the clients that you're absolutely committed to working with, the people that you're passionate about, the people who respect your profession, your advice and your time and the people who're more than happy to pay you every penny that you're worth, then you've got to stop with the 'wham bam thankyou ma'am' approach (Yep, I know it's a bit crude but in all honesty, this is what most marketing is) and take your prospects on a few dates.

What do I mean?

For a start, show them the town.

YOUR town.

Give them the guided tour of your services, your systems, your techniques.

Use words that are meaningful and demonstrate caring and professionalism rather than 'At Jimmy-Joe-Bob's Personal Training Centre we focus on functional training...." This means nothing. instead speak to them about THEM.

Talk about the problems they are facing, the struggles they've had and their most desired goals and dreams rather than boring them to death with you, your certifications and how long you've been in business.

Shower them with gifts.

Everyone loves presents. In fact, there is no quicker way to show a person that you care than by giving them something that they want, like and can enjoy owning.

Do you give sample diets, workouts, e-books, reports, audios, videos... all of the above?

If you're not then you're really missing out on the chance to develop some high quality 'bonding time' with your prospective clients.

Why?

Well it's obvious!

Only friends give gifts don't they?

If you're continuously giving gifts then you MUST be a friend right? And (this is SUPER important) if those gifts are high quality, valuable and well thought out presants then you'll be considered a very good friend indeed.

Earn Their Trust

Gifts or no gifts, trust isn't earned overnight.

You've got to show consistency of intent before you're trusted by anyone. (In fact, very often those who shower us with gifts 'too soon' are often viewed with distrust)

So it's no good offering a free report and then sending an email 5 minutes later trying to sell something.

It's no good presenting a free audio program where all the way through it you're simply trying to pitch a product.

You lose trust... fast!

People say 'I knew they were after something!' and they switch off to the value of your gifts, leaving you unappreciated and friendless.

So be consistent.

Give away more than you ask for.

Offer more than you're trying to take.

In short, provide service, outstanding service, and you'll gain their trust. That way, when you ask for their 'hand' the chances of getting a 'yes' will be that much greater.

To your many successful dates!

The 6 Immutable Laws of Advertising

Well, I'm officially back from Thailand supercamp and getting back into the flow of work here in the UK (rain and all!) and have been reflecting on all that my students accomplished over the 10 days.

It was pretty amazing really, I can tell you!

On average, they completed well over 100 pages of ebook material (not just banks of pictures either but REAL writing), over 40 exercise videos, websites, salesletters, workout templates and much, much more.

Like I said... amazing!

But as I think about it, the area they ALL seemed to struggle on the most, the area they needed the most help with was writing the salescopy. They found it pretty difficult in most cases.

I understand why.

As fitness professionals we don't like to come across pushy or salesy yet most of the copywriting in fitness products is exactly that. Hundreds of testimonials, hundreds of bonuses (many not even related to making the product better) and a whole bunch of 'pushiness in print' that trainers just feel uncomfortable writing. And it shows!

The result of all this copycat marketing is that they create products that are good, produce websites that are expensive and time consuming to build and then go about setting up a launch that... well... never really lifts at all.

Many ebook authors tell me that they've sold fewer than 20 books over a 3 year period with someone recently confessing he'd only sold 3.

So it's clear that how most fitness professionals are marketing their products is wrong.

So what can you do about it?

Well, a good start would be to go back to the old masters like advertising genius Bruce Barton who is widely hailed as the most influential copywriter of all time. Bruce's systems and techniques for writing sales copy are still taught today yet often forgotten in the fitness industry because we spend our time looking for 'new' ways to sell rather than focusing on what did, what is and what always will work.

Bruce Barton called them the 6 immutable laws of marketing... learn them, apply them and you'll see your own products and services sell like crazy. I know I do!

1. The Theme: Should be based on two principles -- a man's interest in himself and his interest in other people.

2. Interesting Headlines: "Nobody was more surprised than I," said Bruce, "when 'The Man Nobody Knows' became a best-
seller; the title is what sold the book."

3. The Visualization.

4. The Copy: The introduction can almost always be eliminated. Copy should fit space. "I never write a piece of copy to this day without counting words," he said.

5. Adjectives: When you finish, go back and cut out all the adjectives.

6. A Purpose: Never write an ad without the idea that something is going to happen -- what do we want the reader to do? Remember the power of a direct command. Don't say, "If you would like this beautiful booklet, we will be glad to send it." Say, "Sit down right now and fill in this coupon."

“In good times people want to advertise, in bad times, they have to."
– Bruce Barton

Use Barton's formula for writing killer copy today and see the difference for yourself.

How To Write Your Own Fitness Book In Just 1 Hour A Day

Well, Personal Trainer Success Supercamp in Thailand is now officially over and all my students have returned home to their respective countries (UK, Spain, US, Luxembourg, Ireland) and I’ve got a few days left here with my wife Deana to chill out and have a little R and R.

I can tell you, it’s been a really intense yet highly rewarding trip for us all with every single attendee achieving an astounding
amount of work.

Well, I think it’s astounding anyway.

 Well over 100 pages of ebook (and no, not all photographs)
 Between 30 and 40 videos each
 A full photo library and description of exercises
 Audio interviews
 A fully complete website including salescopy and download pages
 Between 30 and 90 autoresponders each

And a bunch more!

Not too shabby for 10 days, right?

In addition, each of them has already started to create their personal product launch templates and will be putting them into effect over the next 14 to 28 days to start drumming up buzz around their products.

These guys have been amazing and proven just what can be done when you apply focused intent to any project and I’m sure they’re going to achieve some amazing things in the days ahead.

So, whilst this is all great for them, you’re probably wondering what this has to do with you and your projects, right?

Well, a fair bit actually.

You see, you don’t HAVE to travel to the other side of the world to get amazing results.

You can get these results at home.

You just have to be clear about what you want, why you want it and decide in advance to pay the price then, well, get out and pay it!

What would happen if every day for the next 60-90 days you set aside even 1 hour each day to write up that product that’s in your head?

60-90 hours of applied, focused effort on bringing it to life on paper, video and audio would change things in your life just a bit don’t you think?

How does being a published author in the next 90 days sound to you?

If it sounds pretty damned good, then don’t delay. Don’t think about it, don’t talk about it or make excuses about why it would never work. Just do it.

Success awaits EVERYONE who is willing to pay the price.

The price isn’t always money.

Often it’s just pulling out a notepad and pen and scribbling away for an hour a day. ANYONE can pay that, can’t they?

Will you?

To your success!

What Have YOU Done In The Last 3 Days To Make Your Fitness Business Successful?

Well, we're waking up to day four here at personal trainer success supercamp in Thailand so I thought I'd best touch base to let you know how we're getting on.

The short answer is...

...well.

REALLY Well!

We've already accomplished more in the last 3 days than most trainers would accomplish in 3 months or more, quite simply because of the intense focus we're all able to apply to our projects in this environment.

For instance, several of the guys have practically completed their books with the others not too far behind at all and ALL of them have a seriously improved product over the ideas they originally had when they first came to Thailand.

It comes down to the power of masterminding with other motivated people coupled with and intense focus and a deep commitment to the 'getting stuff done' that I'm always talking about.

The guys have been masterminding well past 2 am here and not a single one of them has stopped writing before midnight since they arrived. It's amazing to behold, I can tell you!

It also fills me with an amazing certainty that each and every one of them will accomplish amazing things when they get home to their respective countries at the end of our time together.

They have to.

It's the law of success at work.

They knew EXACTLY what they wanted - To create a best selling super-implementation program for their fitness niches.

They knew why they wanted it - We masterminded and coached the 'why behind the what' right at the start so that they all got crystal clarity and focus BEFORE they put pen to paper.

They knew the price - Not just the financial price, but the workload, effort, intensity, scrutiny and even discomfort of having your product closely reviewed by your peers.

They were willing to pay the price - It's ok knowing what the price is but at some point you have to ask yourself "Am I WILLING to pay it?".

Most people weren't.

They stayed at home.

I'm not knocking their decision to do so, after all, we're all grown ups and make our own decisions, right? But the truth is, if they REALLY wanted the level of success they claim to, they'd would have found a way to be here, just like those that came.

They didn't.

Finally, not only were they WILLING to pay the price, they're actually PAYING it! - They money, the tie away from work, the criticism of their peers, the late nights, the early mornings, the uncertainty and the deep soul-searching that most of them have had to go through have all been paid and are still being paid right now.

That's why their success is guaranteed and their lives are set to change MASSIVELY in the next 6 months.

You just watch!

As I've been telling the guys here, success is 100% predictable.

It's ACTION - REACTION.

Take a certain action in a certain way and a re-action is guaranteed.... Always!

So...

What action do YOU need to take TODAY to make yourself more successful?

Answer that question then DO IT!

Don't think about it, actually do it.

Your success is waiting!

Dax Moy
www.personaltrainersuccessacademy.com

P.S -In addition to all the amazing work they're doing, the guys have gotten some pretty cool and unusual experiences too...

Living in a 5 star luxury villa with maid and cook and swimming in a worm sea at midnight in a rain and lightening storm to name a few.

Cool huh?

Fitness Marketing Truths... Can You Pass The Test?

Most of the personal trainers and bootcamp instructors that I talk to believe they know a fair bit about marketing.

Tell them about SEO and they say 'Oh yes, I know that'

Tell them about building lists and they're like 'Yup, doing that'

Tell them how to write ads and they respond 'I've been doing that for ages!'

A funny thing though, for all their 'knowingness' around what they should do and how they should do it, most of them still seem to be struggling to earn a decent living from their fitness businesses or, even if they make good money, they only achieve it by giving up huge amounts of their life to do so.

This isn't knowing.

This isn't marketing working.

You can read all the books, attend all the seminars, watch all the videos and sign up for all the masterminds and mentoring programs you want but that doesn't mean you've any savvy around marketing.

Every single mentor program I've run has had AT LEAST one or 2 of these people on it. They 'mmm hmmm' and 'uh huh' in all the right places, tell you that they understand the importance of what you're saying, tell you that they're ALREADY doing that because they read the books before the course and yet they STILL fail to see any appreciable growth.

Why?

Because they're confusing information with knowledge.

Information is just data. It's meaningless in most cases.

Knowlegde is information applied.

If you're not DOING what you've been told works then quite simply, you lack savvy.

As Yoda said 'There is no try, only DO!'

You're either DOING good marketing or you're not. If you're doing it, then it's working to bring you increased income and the lifestyle you want. If you're not well then...

Are YOU as savvy as you think you are?

Ready to find out?

Answer these questions as honestly as you can then check your score at the end.

I know EXACTLY who my target clients are

Do you know their age, profession, educational status, income bracket, marital status, parental status, pain points, pleasure points and more?

Can you name AT LEAST 2 major challenges that they face on a daily basis?

What SPECIFICALLY are they challenged by every day? What 'itching, burning, swelling' are they experiencing in their lives that are making it difficult to achieve their goals?

Do you have a clear solution strategy that demonstrates your value?

A solution strategy is a fully laid out plan of attack that encompasses every single aspect of overcoming your clients greatest challenges. You know these IN ADVANCE.

Do your prospects clearly understand EXACTLY what you can do to help them?

Being 'a trainer' means nothing. You need to postion yourself as a specific solution to a specific problem. Is your solution clear? Can your prospects understand how what you do is different to other trainers?

Do you have several services available, each matched to a niche within your niche?

Having a niche is important but that doesn't mean you should only sell one thing. Do you have 'bolt on' services that make your primary offer better or more complete?

Do you have a 'signature' product or service that is exclusive to your business?

This means NO-ONE else has what you have to offer. It's as uniques as your own signature and stands out from everything else (eg. Afterburn and Turbulence are similar but they are unique too. The products serve as the authors signature products)

Do you have have AT LEAST 1 free product or report that prospects can use to assess your knowledge of the area you work in?

People like to 'try before they buy' and a free report is a perfect way to show that you know your stuff about your area of expertise. This is not just beneficial, it's CRUCIAL in today's market.

Do you have a website that clearly explains my Unique Market Identity?

If I were to land on YOUR website right now, could I easily recognise that what you offer and how you offer it is different to your competitors or would I be hit with the 'me too' factor?

Does your website has a strong WIIFM factor?

Nobody wants personal training or bootcamps. They want the results that those services bring. They're asking 'What's in it for me?' Is your answer clear and unequivocal?

Does your website allow you to follow up with visitors by asking for opt-in ?

Got both an opt in box and a good reason to do so? Does your free report have professionally designed graphics representing it?

Do you have a regular newsletter that is content-rich?

Are you 'pushing the button' on your clients at least twice a week and giving them immediately useable information that they'll value or are you always plugging another affiliate product?

Does your website contain testimonials that serve to demonstrate the quality of your work?

Got testimonials, videos, audios and pictures from raving fans telling the world how good you are?

Does your website gives people a reason to visit more than once?

Does your site have any 'interactive' components that will make me come back or is it 'static' meaning that once viewed I never have to see it again?

Do you write articles that you post on your website at least once a month?

Blogs are great, but are you adding to your site too?

Do you submit articles to suitable link-sites that will enhance your site status on a weekly basis or more?

Are you writing and contributing articles to sites that can provide high value links and traffic back to your own site?

Do you have a clear site optimisation strategy that works?

Are you in the top 3 pages of search engines? If not, the answer is no.

Do you have a pricing strategy that ensures your services are attractive for the clients you serve?

If you're trying to attract bargain hunters is your prce low enough? If you want high end clients, are you expensive enough to be taken seriously? (Hint: most trainers pick their price by their competition NOT by the market they serve)

Do you regularly assess the market to ensure my prices are having the best possible impact

Or are you habitually stuck on the price bracket you're in?

Do you have a clearly understood risk-reversal strategy in place?

Do you make it easy for prospects to do business with you by actively shouting from the rooftops about your guarantee?

Do you regularly ask for (and get) referrals from clients?

Lack of referrals means lack of belief from your existing clients.

Is your client retention is high. Do they stay with you for 18 months or more on average?

Yes, we know that a good coach empowers their clients and that they may leave as a result blah, blah, blah but in truth, clients who love you, what you do and results you get them will stay for longer.

Do you have a brochure and business cards that are professioanlly created?

In the internet age we've been persuaded that many aspects of marketing are now 'old school' and unneccessary. They're not. Offline, people are still looking for that touch of class. Do you have it?

Do you have a uniform which is colour co-ordinated, smart and bearing your company logo ?

Or is it dirty sneakers, and old clipboard and whatever sweatshirt came to hand this morning?

Are you well known within your community as an expert on health and fitness?

Not just to your clients and your mum but to the community at large. Do they even know you exist?

Do you have a system of issuing press releases that gets you into the news AT LEAST 80% of the time?

Are you a regular newsmaker for your region?

Do you regularly give quotes to the media as their chosen expert on your subject?

Are you the 'go to guy/girl' for your expert area or do the press always seem to pass you by for joe trainer at the gym down the street?

Are you asked to present and talk on fitness related subjects AT LEAST 3 times a year ?

Are you getting talking requests for radio, TV or live events that involve you grandstanding your expertise to the public... or is Joe Trainer getting all that action too?

Do you feel that your marketing brings you all the clients you can comfortably handle right now ?

Are you as busy as you'd like to be? Are your employees? Do you have employees to earn you money while you sleep?

Do you have a mentor with industry experience who coaches you to faster results?

Or are you going it alone and making it up as you go, hoping that 'this year will be different'?

Is your business is AT LEAST 50% more profitable than 12 months ago?

Well, is it?

There's a lot more to ask, of course, but these 30 questions are a good place to start the exploration of just how savvy you really are about making a success of your fitness business.

If you answered yes to less than 15 of these (which will be about 80% of trainers reading this) then you really do need to start thinking about taking action right away. Fail to do so and your career in fitness will either be short lived or extremely stressful and unfulfilling... or both!

If you've accomplished 15-20 of these tasks already then you're doing slightly better than your average fitness coach but you still have a long way to go so don't rest on your laurels. Make it a priority to address your weak links right away and you should start seeing a pretty rapid improvement in your business success right away.

If you're at 21-29 then you're above and beyond most of the industry. Congratulations. Keep on doing what you're doing, tweaking, measuring and adding the missing aspects from the list above. Don't drag your feet on this. These few tweaks could quite literally double your profits overnight.

If you're at 30... what are you reading this for? Gimme a call and teach me everything you know : )

To your success!

Marketing Your Fitness Business To The Wrong Crowd?

**THIS POST IS A RE-RUN IN RESPONSE TO A BUNCH OF 'PANIC' EMAILS I'VE BEEN GETTING LATELY... READ IT AGAIN!!**

Affluence

I must admit, it's beginning to get on my nerves a bit.

I mean all this talk of recession.

It seems everyday I'm getting emails from personal trainers who're panicking because of impending recession and worried thattheir bootcamps, their studios and their gyms are going to go underor see such a big drop in business that they'll be struggling toget by and pay their bills.

The sad thing is, most of them are right!

Not because there's not enough business to go around and not because people are spending less but because they're choosing to accept that recession exists.

It doesn't.

Not for everyone, anyway.

Sure, it's easy to think that when something like a recession comes along that we all have to 'tighten our belts', curb our non-essential spending and ride out the storm until the next upswing but that's because we've been trained to think that way.

And we've trained ourselves to think that way too.

But the truth is, the only reason that so many people get hit so hard during times of recession is that choose to play the recession game.

Especially personal trainers.

They see their client list get smaller and their appointments drop off and so they start to discount their prices to attract more business. But the clients still don't come so they discount them even more.

If they're lucky they may see a little rise in business only now, because they're charging less, they're working longer hours, earning less money and in danger of losing even these clients as the recession kicks in.

Sad to say but this is what most personal trainers will do. In fact, from the emails I'm receiving, many are already doing it!

So that's the bad news, but like I said, it doesn't have to be this way.

There's something you can do TODAY to not only avoid the recession but thrive during it.

You can stop being a 'luxury item' to your clients and start becoming an asset.

What do I mean?

Well, what's the first thing that goes out the window when people are struggling financially?

Luxuries, right?

Or in marketing speak 'non-essential spending', meaning everything that's not essential to that person's ability to get through life.

Food, mortgage, utilities etc are all essentials that people MUST have. New cars, personal training, opera tickets on the other hand are, for most people, luxurious, non-essentials that are cut as soon as the R-word begins to be taken seriously.

And here's the problem; the way most personal trainers market themselves is based upon the 'luxury items' model.

They sell their services to people with disposable incomes that, most of the time, allow for the 'luxury' of personal training. These people are 'treating' themselves to PT, they enjoy it (mostly!), they want it and they may even need it but it will always be something that they're happy to keep in their lives for as long as it doesn't interfere with their necessities.

Trouble is, for most trainers this group makes up the largest proportion (if not all) of their client base meaning that they ALL purchased their sessions with you based on price and will all quit when the price seems too high.

Yet consider this; there are groups of people out there who don't consider ANY price (or at least, any price that a personal trainer could ask) as expensive or luxurious. They simply decide what they want and are determined to get it because they see it as an asset or investment that will benefit them.

For example, my clients pay me £150 and hour (that's around $300). The kind of people that can pay that kind of money aren't worried about inflation, depression or recession. They simply know what they want and are willing to pay the price to get it.

I've routinely been paid £2500 ($5000) plus for a day's work.

I've been paid £30,000 ($60,000) for a single month's PT plus $1000 a day expenses whilst travelling.

Right now I'm putting together a PT program that will cost £10-12,000 a week. Yes, you read that right, per person per week.

And all of this (and more) is going on during a so-called downturn.

How?

By removing myself from the luxury market of people who have to scrimp and scrape to work with me and instead focusing my efforts on those with greater affluence. Those who know what they want and are happy to pay for it regardless of the percentage rate the banks are charging.

To them, it simply doesn't matter. Not one little bit.

If you're thinking "That's all great for you Dax, but how does this benefit me?" then here's your answer.

Put your prices... UP!

Seriously, put your prices up. Move away from those who consider your services to be a luxury and instead start marketing to the affluent, the wealthy and the downright rich.

Sound too mercenary?

It's not.

Working with the affluent is no easy ride You'll earn every single penny you earn from them.

They expect better service, better results and, well, better everything. And they're right, after all, they're paying for it aren't they? They're paying for exclusivity, for that little bit more, that 'something extra' that isn't delivered by the $40 and $50 an hour PT's.

So you've got to be better and, more importantly, you've got to be seen to be better.

And better is more expensive, no if's, no but's.

Look, I know this runs contra to everything you've ever been told about recession but nevertheless it's true. Putting your prices up, taking your business 'upmarket' and deliberately attracting the affluent is the best way to recession-proof your business.

Still not sure?

Try this; add a high end service to your current marketing materials. Call it 'platinum coaching', call it what you want but make it clear that this is for those looking for that something special rather than simply personal training.

Proudly state that you're the most expensive coach around (I do it all the time because I am) and then wait.

It may take a little while but sure enough you'll come to know that what I'm telling you is correct; they're out there. Money in hand. Ready, willing and most able to pay you every single penny you're worth. They always have been; you just never asked before.

So ask!

Dead Fly Secrets To Fitness Business Success

.

"How A DEAD FLY Taught Me The Secrets Of Personal Training Success"

Not that long ago, I was sitting in the reception of one of my personal training studios. It was a nice day so we had the studio door open to let in some `real' air and freshen up the place a little.

As I sat there watching people come in and out for their training sessions I noticed a large, black fly had flown in and after buzzing around for a few minutes and finding nothing of interest, it decided to leave.

It flew right past my head and with a `thump', hit the plate glass window before bouncing off and falling to the floor in a daze.

After a few seconds of circling around on the floor it took off again and took what I can only describe as a 'run-up' (flyup?) at the window in a greater attempt to get through the barrier that was keeping it from its goal of the outside world.

With an even louder `thump' the fly went down again and spent more time on the floor.

Well, to cut a long story short, that fly got up again and again and again and pounded at that window with all of its might for over 10 minutes before I had to get up and take care of a customer.

About 30 minutes later I sat back down in the same spot having totally forgotten about the fly and went back to my `people watching' when, out of the corner of my eye I saw the fly laying at the base of the window on its back, legs in the air.

It was dead.

Now, usually the death of a fly is not worthy of remembrance but this one I will always remember because its death taught me one of the greatest success lessons I've ever learned and I continue to reap the benefits of its teaching to this day.

(In fact, just before posting this message today I realised that I'd forgotten the lesson I'd been taught and realised why I'd been feeling a little stressed and frustrated today)

What Did It Teach Me?

That Working HARDER Simply Doesn't Work!

You see, in theory, that little fly was doing everything right. (According to the goal setting experts anyway)

It had a clearly defined goal − To get out.

It had passion − It risked and eventually paid with its life.

It was willing to work as hard as necessary to bring about its goal.

In fact, that little bug kind of reminded me of Me!

Actually, not only did it remind me of me, but of many, great personal trainers
that I'd met who knew what they wanted, had passion and were willing to work as hard as necessary to achieve their dreams but who were, over and over again bashing their heads in on the same invisible barrier that did for that fly.

And whilst it may not have ended in physical death for the trainer (I hope not!), nearly always it ends in the death of their hopes and dreams which, to me at least, is pretty much the same thing.

No, at that very moment it was clear to me that working harder would only ever
take me so far but that, if I were willing to do what the fly and so many other people were unwilling to do, I could achieve far more than I was that time.

All I Had To Do Was...

Change My Strategy!

You see, that's where that little fly had gone wrong and, truth be told, where I had gone wrong so many times, (including this morning!) is that it doggedly stuck to the same strategy even once it had failed to work.

Instead of flying 5 feet over to the open door to its freedom and whatever life awaited it beyond that invisible barrier, it continued to bang its head off of the window and, despite the fact that it was giving it everything it had and despite being so close to reaching its goal... failed miserably.

Just 5 feet in another direction would have made all the difference.

I'm sure you get the moral of the story but let me spell it out for you just in case...

If you think that working harder is going to get you what you want, you're probably wrong (unless you're really lazy already). If that were true then builders, scaffolders and any number of manual workers would be millionaires, right?

Hard work can only ever get you so far.

You've got to work smart.

You've got to look for a strategy that works and USE it rather than dogmatically sticking to one that you've become accustomed to or, like that fly, you'll end up on your back, legs in the air with nothing to show for all your time, all your efforts, all your money.

Only YOU know if your strategy is right or not.

If you're consistently achieving more, earning more and having more of the lifestyle that you always dreamed of then your strategy works. Keep using it and yes, in this case, work harder at perfecting it.

If, on the other hand, you're struggling with your income, your expenses, your time, your relationships and your health then there's no ifs or buts about it, your strategy is plain wrong.

Stop trying to make it work on muscle alone. Working harder won't get you what you want. Quit what doesn't work and start over.

So, c'mon then, what's NOT working for you? Identifying it is the starting step to change, so spill the beans : )

Fitness Busy-ness or Fitness Business? Which One Do YOU Have?

As you guys know, I get a lot of posts here on the community and even more in my inbox asking me how I get so much done in a week toward my business.

I've always just taken the 'these are my targets. let me go get 'em' approach to most of what I do and so, I guess, it's juts a matter of getting stuff done.

Easier said than done.

Especially if you're in the habit of being busy versus be effective.

There's a HUGE difference between the two y'know.

Busy is easy to do.

It looks something like this:

Wake up early, eat a rushed breakfast, turn on computer, check your inbox for any 'important' emails, realise it's getting late and rush off to first client, finish client (or two) then get back online and start ploughing through the latest emails you got from the various marketing and PT lists you are on, click on a few links, read a bunch of blog posts and watch a video for 10 minutes that says exactly the same as the one that the guy yesterday sent you, go back to your email just in case an important email came through whilst you were reading the blog, it did (another newsletter), read it, realise your next client will be here in 5 minutes so switch off computer, complete another PT sessions then get back online to check out your favourite communities and blogs, leave a few posts and get ideas for posts that YOU could write, don't write them, instead read another post, another email, watch another video, write a client program, train another client, check your mail again, think about writing something for your blog, don't write it, head home, read a marketing book, don't use any of the new techniques you've learned because you're 'not ready' yet, go online, check email again, check out interesting community posts then collapse into a semi satisfied heap that you've had a busy day and earned a good night's sleep.

Phew!

Does that sound like your day? Or something like it?

It's easy to get to that stage when you fill your day with busy-ness rather than business. The two are not the same in any way, shape or form.

Busy-ness has very little business building or money making activity within it. Although you're on the go all day, hardly anything actually gets done and, as you already know from previous posts here, you only get paid for done, right?

I recently looked at one of my average days to see how I used it and i think you might find it interest, both for the similarities and the differences.

==> Trained 5 clients
==> Wrote 3 blog posts
==> Wrote 3 new email messages to my lists to drive them to blogs
==> Wrote a detailed website brief for my new site and sent to elance
==> Watched a 30 minute video from a program I paid for (Meaning I WANTED the advice)
==> Used what I learned to create my March Madness promotion at my studio
==> Wrote March Madness promotion brief and and briefed my staff verbally
==> Conducted a 2 hour team meeting where I laid out marketing strategy AND delivered a lecture on lifecoaching and goal setting
==> Spent 1 hour in my various communities answering reader questions or responding to interesting blog posts.
==> Spent 15 minutes skim reading all the emails from the lists I'm subscribed to. Deleted unnecessary mails, saved interesting ones only if I intend to do something with what I learned. If not, in the bin.
==> Wrote an elance brief for 20 hours of transcription. Hired my elancer within first 30 minutes, sent the escrow amount and the audio files within 1 hour.
==> Wrote 6 page worksheet for my mentoring call.

Now, let me be honest, I still had some downtime (I went to see Marley and Me with my wife and youngest son), I still stopped for lunch and had about 30 minutes goofing off with my staff and yes, I still worked when I got home in the evening.

But that's the operative word; I WORKED. I didn't sit on the internet until 9.30pm and get nothing done.

As you can see, that's a pretty full day, right? There's a LOT of productive stuff going on in that day and yes, it truly is an average day for me... and I still feel like I don't get enough done!

Yet, it's about 10 times as much as the average personal trainer or fitness professional.

The thing is, if I can do this so can you.

Just like you, I only get 24 hours a day to do my work. I don't get given extra hours because I've already written an ebook, already have a six figure income or already have my own personal training studios. I get exactly the same.

So does Bill Gates.

So does Warren Buffet.

So does Steve Jobs.

Yet look at what 24 hours in THEIR days can generate!

Success isn't about filling the day with being busy guys. It's about focusing on what's important to your business and your life goals and then getting them done!

Make a commitment this week to working on getting stuff done rather than just being busy and I guarantee you'll see results that you don't normally see in a year.

Get to it.

Get it done!

P.S - Write a list right now of all the REALLY important stuff you could be doing today and all the stuff you've been putting off then, well, just do it. Make a commitment to getting this stuff done ASAP.

Breaking Down The Barriers To Fitness Business Success

Here's another of your questions answered.

This time from Jude... Thanks Jude! : )

"How would you address the situation if it was someone very close to you that was constantly presenting barriers to your success??

What do you do when you have a client that is doing phenominally well but can't appreciate the small things they achieve... glass always half empty kinda person...but always hard working."

Jude

Here's my answer...

Hi Jude

In the case of someone close to you presenting barriers to your success, I think that there are several powerful things you can do to either bring them onside or get past the barrier altogether.

First, I think it’s worth asking them what they are afraid of.

In truth, when a person you are close to tries to block you it’s usually because they have fear of some kind over where your success might take you.

Ask them.

Ask them what the fear is and understand that they probably won’t call it ‘fear’. They’ll likely say that they are concerned or worried. Same difference. It’s fear.

Let them have their say.

Let them go through their fears then repeat them back to them.

For example “So, you’re worried that if I make this project successful that we’ll have less time to spend together than we do right now? Ok, then what do you suggest is the best way to bring this to life AND not have our relationship affected? How would YOU deal with this?”

Often, hearing the fear from someone else’s lips is enough to make it appear as it is. Small, unfounded and… ridiculous (in most cases).

Further, having THEM create the solution takes the negative wind out of their sails and puts them into a positive mindset, one where they’re being asked to create a solution rather than focus on the problem. It’s very difficult to remain negative whilst being creative.

Finally, if the above fails and they are still actively engaged in sabotaging you, you need to ask if they are the right ‘fit’ for you. A difficult question to ask but one which MUST be asked if either of you are to be happy.

You see, I don’t believe that a successful relationship (of any kind) can come from a mindset of toleration. Of ‘putting up with’ each other. Of compromising.

Compromise as a concept is overrated. It means that both partners have lost something as opposed to both of them gaining what they really wanted. It’s lose-lose NOT win-win.

The key to success comes from being in the driving seat of your own life whilst not taking away from those around you. Giving up the keys to others serves no-one and ultimately creates only unhappiness for all concerned.

Now, your second question…

This too is a pretty simple one.

Prove it to them.

PROVE how well they are doing with weekly measurements, weekly photo’s, weekly ‘this is how far you have already come and this is how far we’ve left to go’.

Talk to them constantly about the ‘big picture’.

Keep the goal uppermost in their mind at all times by proactively creating conversations that talk only about the goals and what is left to be done. This is all vital.

But more vital still is digging down to that very core with the most important question of all.

‘WHY?”

The real power in goal achievement and motivation/inspiration is the clarity of knowing why the goal is important, what they are doing it for. Lose sight of the why and the goal degenerates into nothing more than a chore. Something to be gotten ‘out of the way’ rather than pursued and enjoyed.

Like the old saying goes ‘If you have a big enough ‘Why’ you can endure almost any ‘How’.
WHY is the real fuel of success and motivation.

Hope this helps!

How To Avoid Burnout In Your Fitness Business

Here's another question!

"Hi Dax,

With all that you do, how do you avoid burnout?

Amanda"

Hey Amanda

I avoid burnout in numerous ways actually, but first and foremost among them is that I mostly work in areas that I’m very passionate about. More than passionate, in fact, but purposeful.

I’m very fortunate that most of my goals are exciting to me (initially at least) but that ultimately, they fall in line with my passions and my ultimate ‘big picture’ purpose which is…

‘To have a lasting positive impact on the lives of every person who I come into contact with, whether in person or by other means’

With such a purpose I genuinely go through my day every day asking ‘am I achieving my purpose?’ and I can answer it easily.
That’s not to say I always achieve it. I don’t.

I get upset, angry, impatient, frustrated the same as everyone else, however, I’m aware that those feelings are taking me off of my purpose and so I’m able to correct course pretty quickly and get back on target.

This, I believe, is a huge part of avoiding burnout. Knowing what you’re here for and spending most of your time working toward that end.

On a more pragmatic level, I ensure that my year is divided into phases.

I don’t believe that we can run full tilt all the time without burning out, no matter how passionate we are or how inspired our purpose. Sometimes you just need to charge your batteries.

So, instead of letting the batteries run out and being forced to rest and recharge them, I and my family have adopted what we call ‘the 12 week rule’.

This means simply this; we will NEVER go longer than 12 weeks without taking a family trip or adventure somewhere. Normally for 2-4 weeks though sometimes longer and often a little shorter.

The beauty of this approach is that we all know IN ADVANCE how long the next ‘race’ is to be run. We know that I may be working flat out for several weeks, that I may be traveling or working on time consuming project, but they also know for certain that it will end and that we’ll be going somewhere great at the end of it to spend time together.

Oftentimes we’ll not even wait for 12 weeks and go somewhere much sooner, but it’ll never go beyond that.

Want to avoid burnout?

Simply draw out your finish line IN ADVANCE and ‘run’ as hard and fast as you can with your goals safe in the knowledge that your chance to recover and get your breath back is never that far away.

Hope this helps

Fitness Marketing: Guarantees and Getting Known Locally

Yesterday's affiliate marketing question seems to have stirred up a few people. I got some great email feedback but realise that I forgot something VERY important.

About commissions.

Traditional wisdom says to pay as much as you possibly can afford. as affiliates are pretty greedy and will be more inclined to work on your behalf if they get paid more.

Makes sense I guess, but personally I prefer to take this approach.

If the affiliate sale is about SALES then I normally pay about 50%, sometimes more. Given that my products are not cheap, this, I believe, is a decent commission rate and fair to both.

However, if I'm about listbuilding so that I can remarket later, then I'll give away as much as possible.

So it depends on the goal.

But I see no reason why you should have your affiliates making more money than you from your efforts. Maybe I'm wrong, but hey, that's my belief about this.

Anyway...

Today's qustion is from Andy Sloane.

"Hey Dax, Good shout on this post, as a relative novice it'll be great help.

1. What's the best way to attract clients from my local area so that they sign up with me?

2. Do you think that my offering guaranteed fat loss results is the way forward? I've had great results with all fat loss clients thus, far, the latest girl lost 9cm off the waist after 6 weeks, so I'm pretty confident in my methods, but think perhaps I've still not had enough to want to guarantee results?!)

Thanks bro

PS- bought your cookbook yesterday, big fan of the lemon dill chicken ;-)
Andy"

My answer...

Hey Andy,

There are lots of ways to get 'slightly famous' in your local area but here are the most effective.

1. Write... a lot! - The truth is, no matter how good you are at your job, if you don't exist in Google then it's like you don't exist. Even if I read a flyer or ad from that grabs my attention, I'm still going to check you out in Google to see what you're about.

If there are only 5 entries for your name then I'll probably skip your services. If there are 15,000 then you stand a good chance I'll call.

So write articles, put up regular blog posts, submit youtube videos, make comments on other people's forums or communities... but get known!

2. Don't advertise... educate! - Most people are sick of being advertsised and sold to but they're happy enough to have someone educate and teach them something they want to know.

So teach!

Instead of putting together flyers for your business saying 'Hire Me', put together colour handouts with sample workouts, fatloss or nutrition tips. More work, for sure, but more effective too!

3. Talk! - The only way we truly know if a person knows their stuff or not is to hear them say it. When they talk, we ascertain their level of expertise right away. We know if they are the real deal... or not.

So talk!

Hire a hall or other venue and invite people to hear you talk on a subject that you're already comfortable with. You'll wow them and they'll want to work with you.

So simple!

Of course, there's a lot more but that's a start : )

Now, as to guaranteed fatloss, the answer is a resounding 'yes'!

Yes, you should offer a guarantee. Not just on fatloss but for all your services.

It will elevate you and your business massively in the eyes of your prospects and make you the obvious (and only) choice for training.

My company offers a double your money back guarantee if we can't help you lose a clothing size in 21 days.

I personally offer a 10 x money back guarantee for the same.

Does it work?

Well, I'm the highest paid personal trainer in the UK so it's certainly not hurting, right?

Offer the guarantee.

Watch your business change...

...overnight!

Hope this helps : )
